The Offshore Heavy Lifting business unit of Boskalis is active in both the offshore wind and in the oil and gas installation and decommissioning markets. With a focus on offshore wind we solve challenges in transport and installation of offshore wind farm foundations that are related to their harsh environmental conditions, heterogeneous soil profiles and scheduling risks. How you can make your mark

 

In the role of Project Engineer you will contribute to the tender, preparation and execution phases of our projects. During the tender phase you are responsible for ensuring technical feasibility of the  proposed execution method. In the  preparation phase you have a key role in coordinating works related to engineering preparations on the project to ensure that quality will be delivered.

Typical projects are done by Bokalift 1 and Bokalift 2, our self-propelled crane vessels, including a 3,000 and 4,000 ton revolving crane respectively. Our vessels are used for: installing jackets and monopiles for offshore wind turbines, decommissioning of obsolete oil and gas platforms and transport and installation of new-build oil and gas production platforms.

Your responsibilities as a Project Engineer at Boskalis Offshore Heavy Lifting

  • Prepare and guide project preparations, work methods and designs that meet all requirements
  • During project execution, support as field engineer offshore or on the site office.
  • Provide solutions to the customer and mitigate risks to an as low as possible level
  • Ensure that you are well informed about the contract agreements with the customer and that you know the project management procedures and rules of Boskalis heavy lift
  • Based on solid knowledge, you convince customers / marine warranty surveyors / authorities of the feasibility and safety of the offered solution / method and the resulting specifications
  • Structure, plan and budget the project engineering work (including subcontractors where needed) and inform relevant stakeholders on time
  • Provide support and advice to the lead engineer with regards to project engineering issues and resources during all phases of the project
  • Drive continuous improvement of department processes and procedures and evaluation of the engineering process. Identification of lessons learnt and ensuring implementation of follow up actions related to lessons learned

 

You can make your mark as a Project Engineer if you have

  • At least 3 years of working experience in a project environment involving transportation and installation of bottom foundation structures offshore;
  • As a minimum a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably mechanical, maritime, civil or offshore engineering,
  • Good understanding of the underlying disciplines behind our work as heavy lift contractor (Rigging design, Geo, Marine and structural engineering)
  • Willing to travel for the purpose of the project. For tenders this will be limited to shorter trips for meetings with clients. Depending on the project this may be on an adhoc basis or on a rotation scheme to project locations abroad;
  • A good command of written and spoken English;
  • A positive attitude, are dependable and responsible;
  • Willingness to share your knowledge and train junior colleagues.

Extra information

  • Your team: You will work as a Project Engineer in the business unit Offshore Heavy Lifting. In multidisciplinary teams of 10 to 20 professionals you will work on the preparation, coordination and execution of decommissioning- and installation works.
  • Where you will work: You will be working at the Boskalis Campus Papendrecht or abroad on a project basis.
  • Full/part-time job: The position of Project Engineer is a fulltime job - 40hrs a week.
