How you can make your mark

Make your mark as Senior Commercial Manager at Boskalis Offshore Marine Services. You develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to drive new business opportunities in the Chartering segment . The Senior Commercial Manager is overall responsible for the acquisition, negotiation, administration, development and implementation of contracts to optimize revenue and strengthen Boskalis' market position.

As a Commercial Manager, you establish and maintain relationships with present and future clients such as Tier 1 contractors, brokers and operators in the marine/ offshore, oil & gas industry. You will have a broad scope of work and will definitely not be a one-trick pony, as you will develop business and close the deals yourself supported by our legal and tender organization. Your main challenge will be pro-actively monitoring of opportunities in the international Oil& Gas and Renewable market and acquire new contracts with an acceptable risk profile in order to achieve the business and financial objectives of Boskalis Marine Services. You operate in a highly dynamic ‘market’ with short horizons which requires a very pro-active attitude. 

Your responsibilities as a Senior Commercial Manager:  

  • You will guide a small team located in the same location as you are.
  • Identifying, analyzing, developing and advising relevant new business opportunities within the designated business unit or department.
  • Initiating, developing and executing the account management plan for key accounts in the target market.
  • Negotiating and closing contracts in accordance with commercial and legal procedures and guidelines. Supporting commercial management of projects by monitoring the agreed budget, timely identifying risks and deviations and identifying opportunities to optimize the financial result.
  • Drafting contracts, arbitrations and fees for subcontractors within the budget and project frameworks in order to generate maximum returns.
  • Ensuring commercial information data input on inquiries, contracts, visit reports, competitive information and client information in relevant databases to provide input for the sales plan and to increase sales potential.
  • Being responsible for KPI reporting for management and proposing required actions to reach commercial objectives.

You can make your mark as Senior Commercial Manager if you:

  • Have at least 12 years of relevant experience in a sales/commercial position in a complex and international working environment, preferably in  an integrated services solutions environment for the Marine sector;
  • Have an existing network in the offshore energy industry (marine transport, oil & gas, renewables) preferably in the European, Africa  or the Americas area;
  • Are willing to travel frequently (40%);
  • Have acquisition and negotiation skills in lumpsum international contracts;
  • Have an excellent command of English; 
  • Recognize the following characteristics: result-focused, culturally sensitive, comfortable in a dynamic environment, precise, client-focused and pro-active.

  • Your team: You are part of a team of 7 sales managers and 2 sales coordinators. Four of them are located in Papendrecht, the others are located in Scotland, India and Singapore. You report to the Commercial Director – Chartering   within Boskalis Marine services.
  • Where do you come to work: You will be located in our Papendrecht office. You may work partly at home and partly in the office. 
  • Full-time: The position is full-time and will take over 40 hours a week of your time. Working during the weekends will be part of your job as well.
