As geophysicist, you will be part of Boskalis Hirdes EOD Services, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal department within the Boskalis Group. This department deals with detection, identification and removal of unexploded ordnance in the offshore environment, serving marine infrastructural projects as well as offshore renewables projects.
As geophysicist, you efficiently maneuver between the tendering and execution phase of our projects and as such provide specialist technical assistance and support in the preparation and execution of geophysical / electromagnetic survey works in unexploded ordnance (UXO) detection business. With your knowledge of geophysics and expertise in this field, you will be responsible for:
- Data management including acquisition, processing and evaluation of geophysical survey data used in offshore and onshore UXO detection (mainly focused on magnetic and electromagnetic data).
- Coordination of geophysical measurements onboard survey vessel in close collaboration with survey personnel. Training and support of surveyors with regards to relevant measuring equipment.
- Reporting and documentation of survey and project results in the office.
- Presentation and provision of data according to client specifications.
In your role you are willing and physically fit to work on offshore vessels and at onshore project sites.

Based on your knowledge and experience of geophysics as well as your analytical skills you are able to support our projects with geophysical expertise. You switch easily in collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders and you see to it that realization, commissioning and aftercare take place on time and within the agreed specifications of quality.|
Your solid basis allows you to initiate and complete assessments, as well as allowing you to work relatively independently. For every challenge we face, you see opportunities for continuous improvement of existing methods and techniques, as well as practical solutions. Apart from that, the following requirements are applicable:
- Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience is desirable.
- M.Sc. (or higher) in geosciences/geophysics/physics, or a related field with a focus on geophysics.
- Basic knowledge of magnetometer, EM measurements and processing techniques is required. Basic knowledge of survey sensors, such as positioning and motion sensor measurements is desirable.
- Experience working with software applications such as Oasis Montaj and GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS).
- Experience in MS Office is required.
- Knowledge of a programming language (Python, R, etc.) is desirable.
- Structured work method and logical thinking throughout large scale project work.
- Knowledge of English language (written and spoken) is required, German language (written and spoken) is desirable.
- EU passport or EU long-term residency, German work permit.
- Class B driving license.

- The position geophysicist is a fulltime (40 hours a week) job.
- Where you will work: You will be mainly working from the Boskalis Hirdes office in Hamburg (Germany). Periodically, you will work on projects offshore / abroad for shorter periods. It is possible to work from home as long as the task at hand allows.
