Then it’s time to come and talk to us about working as a cost engineer. The cost engineer works on all aspects of cost estimations and optimizations. Boskalis Subsea Services commercial department is based in Papendrecht, the Netherlands. The majority of the team is Dutch-speaking, but not all are. All our proposals are being drafted and issued in English. Therefore there is no requirement to speak Dutch, but proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is a requirement for this position
Our cost engineers provide the cost estimate on which we base our proposals . From this position you influence the projects we secure as a multi-million company.
Based on tender documents, possibly supplemented with other required information, you are responsible for the timely and accurate execution of cost estimates for Subsea projects. This includes taking care of the tender documents and maintaining the calculation or budget files and databases.
You are able to consult with experts from other disciplines and suppliers to get the required information to compile an cost estimate.
As a cost engineer you are able to execute and identify the project scope which needs to be subcontracted or purchased. You play an active role in identifying opportunities & risks. Providing financial input for risk analyses, and estimating the cost of opportunities & risks. You have a complete knowledge of internal and external normcalculations and their underlaying principles. After contract awardance you actively follow up the project in execution and gather information for future tenders.
As a cost engineer at Boskalis subsea services you are able to maintain the overview in a multi-project, multi-actor project tendering environment and, sometimes under pressure, manage to keep cool and set-up accurate cost estimates. This position gives you a great deal of impact which means you contribute to the success and growth of Boskalis Subsea Services’.
If you want to be part of Boskalis’ top selection you will need to be able to offer the following:
- A higher vocational education (HBO: BA/Bsc). You are great with numbers and calculating various scenarios is something you enjoy doing. You have a background in engineering (Civil/Marine/Maritime/Mechanical) economics, finance or a similar discipline;
- A background in offshore and maritime engineering projects;
- Demonstrable knowledge of financial and economic business processes;
- Expert in MS Excel;

Our subsea services activities are focused on carrying out subsea projects including construction, inspection, repair and maintenance works for oil and gas operators. The work is performed using air diving and saturation diving as well as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) which are predominantly based on one of Boskalis Subsea Services’ vessels being, Boka Atlantis, Boka Da Vinci, and Boka Constructor.
