How you can make your mark

Are you ready to make your mark as a product owner data role with a focus on data, offering the chance to work on globally impactful projects while being part of a dynamic and enthusiastic international team? Join us and take the opportunity to automate the real-time sensor data from our fleet and contribute to fuel and emission reductions

In this role, you will use your organizational skills to make a significant impact on our operations. As a key member of our Data Engineering team, you will collaborate with a talented group of 12 data and analytics engineers who work at the intersection of data technology and our core businesses of dredging and offshore operations. Our Data Analytics team supports multiple business units, empowering their craftsmanship and specialization. Besides our core business, we also support our secondary processes and departments, including finance, procurement, HR, and more.

In addition, you will be tasked with implementing our data strategy, which aims to leverage the value of data as a strategic asset by enabling data driven decision-making, through co-creation and self-services. You will play a pivotal role in leading this transformative transition.

Your responsibilities as a product owner data

  • Develop and communicate a clear (data) product vision and strategy for the data engineering team based on the data strategy.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders such as our AI programme, management of business units, fleet management, engineering, procurement, and IT, to clearly understand their needs and priorities. You are able to translate that into defined and measurable business value and priority.
  • Create and maintain a well-defined product backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements based on business value.
  • Effectively allocate resources to ensure timely delivery of high-value projects and initiatives through a plannable and predictable work process.
  • Define and track key performance metrics to measure the success of data initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovation and the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies. Provide professional support, coaching, and training to less experienced and/or junior product owners to help them develop their skills and grow in their roles.

Your qualities

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration). A master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Owner with a focus on data analytics and engineering projects. Familiarity with data engineering and analytics technologies.
  • Strong understanding of various business processes and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile (Kanban and Scrum) methodologies and knowing how and when to apply accordingly to enable maximum value creation by the team.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Azure DevOps or Github Enterprise, with experience in improving workflows and processes.
  • Experience working in an international team environment, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones and cultures.
