He talks about the adventurous world of being a Salvor. Following the iconic Ever Given project Thijs has now moved on to our latest Salvage project in the South China Sea, where the installation of a drilling rig in an offshore field did not go as planned, and the drilling rig lost stability.
Thijs and his team are now working on removing the entire rig from the seabed, but that’s easier said than done. The rig is not only very heavy, but also has a diameter of 70 meters and legs of 153.5 meters long.
Luckily it’s a project that is right up our street: all the Salvage techniques and disciplines needed are available in Thijs’s team. And that is something he is very proud of.
