WILLEM IS MAKING HIS MARK IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
ShowMake your mark for the innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) program at Boskalis and contribute at the forefront of strategically integrating AI into our operations to drive efficiency. Our AI Strategy program is designed to tackle business challenges within strategically defined themes on our assets, Dredging and Offshore vessels and our primary process, our tenders and projects. To drive this ambition, we are positioning a new AI department on a corporate level. This new team will grow towards a team of over 20 people by the end of 2025.
We are looking for passionate AI Leads, AI Engineers and Business Data Engineers who are eager to contribute to our vision and help us achieve our ambitious goals.
This new department will be working on our AI portfolio created by our senior business leaders and validated by our Board of Management. Its team members will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI solutions that fulfil business needs.
A nice aspect of our AI program is that it focuses on areas in which there’s already a mature data catalog and AI development is already ongoing, but it also focuses on the areas where we need to map our data landscape, figure out ownership, identify new data collection techniques, and lay down the fundamentals for future AI use.
The mostly young and diverse teams of data engineers, software developers and AI engineers are a blend of technical experts, who understand our business needs. All with enthusiastic motivation, drive and willingness to continuously keep learning. The willingness to learn and acquire the necessary experience and skills is for these innovative AI program team members, more important than to comply with them perfectly.
Each vessel in our very versatile fleet is outfitted with many sensors. These are directly used for the operation of the vessel, but also to evaluate how things went and to see what we can improve, like the lifting operation for a monopile, or a dredging trip on a hopper dredger. This is just like how a Formula 1 team operates during a race and evaluates afterwards. As AI engineers, we create models that help the crew reach the most optimum use of the vessel, like the combination of its sailing speed, pump settings and cycle duration.
Boskalis distinguishes itself by handling large and complex projects. We develop in-house software to simulate the logistics of such projects, the complex supply chain, and all the scenarios that come into play when transporting monopiles for an offshore wind farm across the Atlantic, in challenging weather and ocean conditions, with a combination of unique equipment that all needs to work together in sync to get a good result. We feed data from the field into those simulations to make sure that they’re rooted in reality.
If you are excited about the opportunity to work for Boskalis on innovative AI projects and have the drive to make a significant impact, we want to hear from you. Explain to us why your background and expertise make you the ideal candidate for our AI program and join us in shaping the future of Boskalis.
