As Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent you will work for Docking support in the Fleet Management Dredging department. The department provides technical support and the main focus is to keep the fleet in shipshape.
Our fleet consists of an extensive and versatile fleet comprising around 700 vessels and auxiliary equipment which can be deployed in the optimal configuration for each individual project. It’s Boskalis capital asset. As a Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent, you will play an important role in maintaining, repairing and modifying our fleet, and in particular that part of the fleet used for the Dredging & Inland Infra division.
The focus in this role will be on 16 TSHD, 4 CSD, 4 fallpipe vessels, 6 Backhoe Dregders and the auxiliary fleet.
As a business partner, Fleet Management Dredging creates value to the primary process in an environment where our crew and staff can excel. As a team member the Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent contributes to management of our assets in order to achieve optimal results for Boskalis.
We are looking for a new team member to strengthen the docking support on large dockings and repairs worldwide. In this role your project management skills will be crucial in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Your responsibilities as Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent:
- During preparation phase conduct vessel visits worldwide together with the Vessel Technical Superintendent to collect the scope of work;
- Responsible for project planning and managing of the planning team;
- Responsible for the Budget Control Report (BCR) and manage the Financial Controller and Cost Estimators;
- Weekly and monthly reporting to the Fleet Manager during preparation and repair;
- Implementing and monitoring the general technical and safety standards and reporting on possible improvements to ensure the safety of our colleagues.
- Manage subcontractors during the repair period and stay in close contact with purchasing and the logistics department.
- During the execution phase of the repair and modification project you will act as the Project Manager or Worksmanager and report to the fleet manager.
Your qualities
In the role of Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent, it is essential to have the ability to work in a planned and independent way. You must have an eye for detail but you should certainly never lose sight of the bigger picture. On the basis of your extensive technical expertise and enthusiasm for high-end technical solutions, you can communicate and connect on different levels within the dredging division and convince colleagues and stakeholders about your solutions and ideas.
Furthermore you need to have the following to make your mark as Technical Superintendent:
- A higher vocational education (BSc) in mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or similar qualification.
- At least ten years’ experience as a technical superintendent, inspector or chief engineer on board of dredgers or large offshore vessels.
- Technical and operational dredging project knowledge and knowledge of the dredging process and equipment is a big pre.
- A familiarity with health & safety regulations relating to our business.
- Knowledge of fleet management and maintenance systems such as SMMS.
- A good command of written and spoken English.

Extra information
- Your team: As Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent, during preparation and execution of repair projects, you are part of the Fleet Management team (Crew, TSI, Fleet engineer). You will report to the Fleet Manager.
- Where you will work: During the preparation phase you will be working at the Boskalis Campus in Papendrecht, but are open for travel to the vessels abroad. During the repair project you will be based on site, on a 6 weeks on - 4 weeks off rotation.
- Fulltime/ part- time job: The position of Senior Maintenance Technical Superintendent is a fulltime job.
