How you can make your mark

In the role of Crane Specialist, you will provide technical support to the Boskalis Offshore Energy Division Fleet and Projects. You will be the point of contact on crane technical matters for a fleet of vessels.

Your responsibilities as Crane Specialist:

  • Practical experience working with, maintaining, and repairing offshore cranes. Supported by excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of running wire rope integrity management (ISO 4309, IMCA M 194) and lifting equipment inspections (LOLER).
  • Be the point of contact for all operational and technical crane-related questions from Fleet Management Team, Vessels, and Project Teams.
  • Leading Crane Excellence. Drive continuous technical and cost-effective improvements through best practice and knowledge sharing, benchmarking of vessel cranes, data monitoring and analytics, and follow-up on performance.
  • Review and update company policies and Planned Maintenance System (PMS). Suggest improvements to enhance equipment reliability and availability.
  • Ensure the correct level of critical spares and wires for all cranes across the fleet.
  • Coach and guide Masters, Chief Engineers, and Crane Operators on matters relevant to the efficient and safe operation of the crane.
  • Periodically visit and inspect the vessels and allocated cranes, equipment.
  • Comfortable with working offshore / onboard vessels, and capable of working at height.

You can make your mark as Crane Specialist if you:

  • Hold a professional degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Maritime Engineering.
  • Have technical knowledge and experience (10 years or more) working with hydraulic cranes and systems in offshore environment. Are highly skilled in hydraulic and mechanical systems with knowledge of control and electrical systems.
  • Follow the instructions and execute the work method by adhering to the relevant company policies, and QHSE procedures.
  • Show leadership and commitment to ensure a healthy and safe place of work and to prevent the environment by adhering to the relevant QHSE procedures as described in the management system (Way of Working).
  • Are able to write technical reports.
  • Have experience with Maintenance Management, ERP systems, and MS applications.
  • Have a good command of English.
  • Are enthusiastic, flexible, and proactive.

    Extra information

    • Your team: You will become part of a professional team within the Fleet department of Boskalis Offshore Energy and will work on multidisciplinary projects. On a day-to-day basis, you will report to Alberto Prado, Manager Docking Cell & Mobilizations.
    • Where you will work: The Papendrecht Head office is where the majority of activities will take place, however we can be flexible on the location if required and you are willing to work abroad when needed. 
    • Fulltime/ part time job: In principal the position of Crane Specialist is a fulltime job (40 hours a week over 5 working days).
