How you can make your mark
Make your mark as Graduate Intern at Boskalis Offshore Energy
Are you ready to apply your technical skills in a challenging offshore engineering environment and contribute to innovative solutions for the marine industry? As a Graduate Intern at Boskalis Offshore Energy, you will work on research that supports our projects and drives the development of new operational methods and technologies.
You will collaborate with experienced engineers on high‑impact assignments. Depending on your interests and background, your thesis may focus on one of several potential research areas, such as:
- Automated Upending Systems: Developing advanced mechanical and marine models to improve upending processes, including automation to optimize hinge load limits and enhance operational safety.
- Soil–Structure–Hydrodynamics Interaction: Investigating how seabed-mounted systems influence wave loads on offshore structures using numerical modelling and simulations. The aim is to refine installation guidelines and improve structural performance in marine environments.
- Monopile Installation in Fluidized Soil Conditions: Studying the interaction between foundation structures and fluidized soils to better understand load distribution, energy dissipation, and hydrodynamic effects during installation. This work supports compliance with tool requirements and improves installation efficiency.
- Optional: Another topic of your choosing that falls within the scope of Mechanical/Marine/Soil.
Your tasks may include:
- Gathering and post‑processing data.
- Conducting a literature review.
- Translating theoretical outcomes into practical engineering solutions.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to validate and apply your results.
- Developing and refining models using simulation tools such as Orcaflex or CFD software.
Your qualities and background:
- Currently enrolled in a master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Offshore/Marine Technology, Geophysics or a related field.
- Programming skills in Python.
- Analytical, structured and proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).
- Residence in the Netherlands is required.
