Tyron Dungca works as a certificate coordinator in Building 7, our Abu Dhabi office where 320 colleagues offer remote support to our worldwide projects. “My first year here has been amazing. It’s great to have my family here to share the fun of being part of our little Boskalis community.”
Tyron started working for Boskalis in 2012. Although he loved working as a purchaser and QA document controller on various Asian and Middle Eastern projects, he chose to move back to his home country of the Philippines in 2016 to spend more time with his family. “A couple of years later, I got the chance to start working for Boskalis again, closer to home in the Philippines. It felt like a reunion, reconnecting with old friends.” When Boskalis asked Tyron to come and work in Building 7 in Abu Dhabi in 2023, he was happy to move there as long as his family could join him.
Just like that, Tyron started as a certificate coordinator in Abu Dhabi, mainly working on updating the certificates of the impressive dredging fleet. Boskalis really made an effort to think along with the big move from the Philippines, making sure his wife and son could also move to Abu Dhabi to build up a new life along with him. “It really feels like home-away-from-home here. I’m now able to work normal office hours and see my son every day. Boskalis even found a school for him and supports us with a housing allowance.”
Tyron and his family already made many friends in their new home country. As they’re not the only family who recently moved here, it really helps them feel at home to meet up with some of the other Boskalis families whenever they get the chance. “The sense of community we created here is particularly important to my wife and son. We all spend weekends and holidays together as one big happy family. For example, we’ll celebrate Christmas at our house this year. And we recently went on a trip to Dubai together. It’s great fun to explore the Middle East with our close group of friends.”
Would Tyron recommend others to come and work and live in Abu Dhabi? “Definitely, I actually already recommended some qualified people from the Philippines to join us. Moving here is such a great opportunity to broaden your horizon professionally and personally. I’m very happy to stay here until retirement, as long as I have my family here with me. And I’m looking forward to seeing our Boskalis community grow in the years to come.”
