How you can make your mark

Make your mark as a Warehouse Mechanic at Smit Salvage!

As Warehouse Mechanic, you are responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, storage, and readiness of designated company equipment at our Houston warehouse. You ensure that assets are properly maintained, certified, and available for projects, and you coordinate equipment mobilization and demobilization in close cooperation with project teams.

You provide hands-on technical support during equipment preparation, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs—both in the warehouse and in the field when required. In addition, you maintain accurate equipment and maintenance data and play an active role in the implementation and day-to-day use of the Equipment Management Platform (EMP).

Your responsibilities as a Warehouse Mechanic

  • Operate, inspect, maintain, and store designated equipment.
  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment for projects.
  • Provide technical support to project teams.
  • Maintain equipment records, documentation, and reporting in EMP.
  • Contribute to cost control, spare-part management, and tender input.
  • Work safely and in line with company procedures.

Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as a Warehouse Mechanic if you have:

  • A technical or vocational education in mechanical, electrical, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance, mechanical repair, and technical warehouse operations.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and equipment mobilization/ demobilization.
  • Certified or experienced forklift operator.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written).
  • Basic ICT skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in marine, offshore, industrial, or heavy-equipment environments.
  • Familiarity with asset or equipment management systems (e.g. EMP).
  • Experience with specialized equipment (e.g. diving systems).

  • Your team: As a Warehouse Mechanic you will work for SMIT Salvage Houston. You will work for one of the largest salvage companies in the world. You will also work with various other colleagues who are part of the worldwide Salvage team.
  • Where you will work: You will work at our warehouse in Houston.
  • Full-time: The Warehouse Mechanic position is full-time (40 hours per week).
