How you can make your mark

Make your mark as Structural Engineer at Boskalis Offshore Energy’s Global Engineering Department. You come in as soon as our project team has developed a method to execute the project. You provide up to date engineering advice and support before executing with regards to structural integrity of all items used in the project.

As Structural Engineer you are responsible for analyzing and designing various offshore structures, including fixed and floating offshore structures. These often are part of our international, complex and ‘one of a kind’ projects in the Renewables and Oil & Gas industry which regularly get media exposure, such as:

  • Heavy lifting operations for the South Fork and Moray West projects;
  • Providing Heavy Marine Transport services such as dry docking for the Carnival Vista;
  • Laying inter-array cables for the Gode Wind project in the Boka Ocean.

Your responsibilities as Structural Engineer:

  • Prepare reports with design and verification calculations for all structural works within Scope, Budget and Schedule;
  • Develop various concepts for design and advice on the most suitable solution for the problem;
  • Ensure verification of drawings to ensure that these match with engineering performed;
  • Initiate and document good engineering practices, tools and departmental standards;
  • You are first point of contact during construction and fabrication of the designed items;
  • Manage design and verification works at subcontractor engineering firms.

Your qualities
You can make your mark as Structural Engineer if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline such as Naval Architecture or Marine, Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering with some specialization towards structural engineering;
  • 5+ years of experience engineering in the Offshore field, Practical Offshore experience;
  • Well versed in at least 2 FEA packages preferably ANSYS, FEMAP, RFEM and Mathcad;
  • A good command of spoken English and academic reporting skills;
  • Flexible attitude. After all, our business runs day and night. Also open to go abroad for a short period now and then.

  • Your team: You are part of a team of 32 Structural Engineers managed by a Lead Structural Engineer, in Offshore Energy’s Global Engineering department. You work together with CAD Engineers and Marine Engineers and team-up with Project Engineers. Your clients are all Boskalis Offshore Energy business units, meaning you will rapidly develop your internal network!
  • Where you will work: For office-based roles, in consultation with your manager and your team, you work partly at home and partly in the office.
  • Fulltime job: The position of Structural Engineer is a fulltime (40 hours a week) job.
