Our offshore heavy lift business unit is looking for an acoustic engineer that can act as subject matter expert and knowledge center for all topics related to underwater noise, its generation, propagation and mitigation. In the role of acoustic engineer you have fundamental knowledge on the theory of noise generation and noise propagation through air, water and soil. Ideally you possess a deep understanding and expertise of noise abatement by noise mitigation systems, or are willing to develop this.

Your responsibilities as an acoustic engineer: 

  • Have and develop fundamental knowledge on the theory of noise generation. 
  • Have and develop fundamental knowledge on the theory of noise propagation through air, water and soil.
  • Have and develop fundamental knowledge on the theory of noise abatement by Noise Mitigation Systems.
  • In cooperation with Offshore Heavy Lift (OHL) and R&D – develop (D)BBC spread – optimized in uptime and efficiency.
  • Follow the market in existing and newly developed nearfield noise mitigation solutions – judge the possibilities on feasibility to advise the organization on which initiatives to be cooperated with
  • Be an actor on industry platforms to advise regulatory bodies on pragmatic and realistic noise limits.

You can make your mark as a acoustic engineer if you have:

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Physics, Marine Mammal Science or an Acoustic related degree or academic course.
  • Experience of acoustic field projects and data analysis.
  • Experience with PAMS/CPODS or any other underwater noise monitoring equipment is a pre.
  • High level computer skills
  • Marine survey experience or working on vessels is a pre.
  • A good command of written and spoken English
  • Willingness to travel.

  • Your team: You will work as a acoustic engineer in the business unit Offshore Heavy Lifting closely together with R&D, hydronamics and the experts in the team.
  • Where you will work: You will be working at the Boskalis Campus Papendrecht. Occasional travel to partners and projects will be part of the job.
  • Full/part-time job: The position of acoustic engineer is a fulltime job - 40hrs a week.
